Diastis Recti in 13mo

Help! My 13mo has diastis recti (since he was born, you see a bulge when he sits up). We have PT were we work on his core strength and the Dr every time we see him he says “it should close on its own”. Is there anything I can do specifically to help D.R. close or should we get a second opinion?

my baby had that and it resolved on its own before the first birthday, i don’t remember exactly when

Welcome to our community! Its true that this does typically heal on its own (usually around 9 months). If your doctor and PT aren’t concerned and are noticing progress that’s definitely a good sign. If you feel like you’d like someone else to check it out that might help you have peace of mind, but what your doctor is saying is consistent with the research on diastasis recti in babies.
